Volunteer

If you are interested in Volunteering at Transition House Please Call: 905-376-9562 or E-mail: info@thshelter.ca.

“Volunteering is the most fundamental act of citizenship and philanthropy in our society. It is offering time, energy and skills of one’s own free will.” – Volunteer Canada

If you are interested in joining our volunteer team and want to donate your time to help those less fortunate in our community, we urge you to contact Transition House for further information. With your help, we can continue to make it possible for Transition House to work toward eliminating homelessness in Northumberland County. Transition House volunteers are a welcome and necessary component of the services provided by the Transition House. Volunteers bring many skills and talents to their work both within and outside of the house, as well as behind the scenes.

Our volunteers assist with the following activities:

  • Providing a listening ear for residents who may want to talk
  • Resident meal planning and cooking
  • Assist with light household maintenance and repairs
  • Gardening and lawn care

Transition House requires a current Police Reference Check before volunteering within the shelter.
